SWITZERLAND YOU BEAUTY!

Updated: Jun 3, 2023

Switzerland was my mother’s choice, it was her dream destination. We reached Zurich by using the same bus service which I & Akshit used to reach Amsterdam, Flixbus. It was a comfortable overnight journey and took 9-10 hours. The buses provided by Flixbus service also have a toilet inside which made the journey lot more comfortable for my Nani as due to old age she needs the toilet on a long journey. I remember we reached Zurich by 9 in the morning and then we headed towards our Airbnb in Wollishofen. The best way to commute within Zurich is by Tram, we used the tram to reach Wollishofen. I strongly recommend that if you are on a family trip to Europe, do consider Airbnb, they are just perfect.

The plan for the first day was only Zurich. We did a bit of shopping and went to different restaurants. For lunch, we went to “Hiltl Restaurant” The specialty of this restaurant is that it is the oldest continuously open vegetarian restaurant in the world. There was an option for a buffet and the payment system was based on the weight of the food which you are going to have. It was a nice concept and the food was really tasty. We also went to a complete chocolate shop, the name was “Läderach”. Switzerland is mostly famous for white chocolates although you can buy any type of chocolate, white chocolate is the specialty. Belgium is for dark chocolate.

For the second day, we booked a package tour to the top of Europe. This place has Europe’s highest train station – “Jungfraujoch”. This package included everything like transport from Zurich to Lauterbrunnen, then by cog railway Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch, and at last back to Zurich. The only thing is food which is on to you, rest everything in the package. So around 8 in the morning, our bus left for Interlaken & we reached there by 10:30-11:00 am. There was a stoppage of around 1 hour, in which we can eat something or click pictures around. I saw Hooters and was excited to go there and I did go there but since I was with my family, it was a bit weird xD

From Interlaken, our bus reached Grindelwald from where we boarded the train to Kleine Scheidegg station. Believe me that the journey from Zurich to Grindelwald was the most beautiful journey of my life, the number of sceneries, breathtaking views, and surreal landscapes, this road journey was just love. From Klein Scheidegg we finally boarded the train to the highest point “Jungfraujoch”.

Passing through the Bernese Alps via a large number of tunnels, we reached the highest point of Europe – Jungfraujoch. The train journey was literally like a dream, the train running in the mountains at such a high altitude. I never imagined that trains could run at such a great height and function so easily. Finally, the train reached the “Top of Europe” building. This building includes a lot of things like panoramic restaurants, shops, a post office (one of the highest in Europe), and a Sphinx observatory. This observatory is accessible to the public and there is an open space from where you can see snow-white mountains all around. The view was so beautiful that I don’t think any picture would have given justice to it.
